Wildlife Guide

Ewa has joined our team in 2015 and has immediately won the hearts of all the tours visiting Białowieża. She is a wealth of knowledge on trees and the forest ecosystem. On a daily basis she works at the Forest Research Institute in Białowieża investigating the forest dynamics and tree ecology, with particular interest for fire and its role in shaping the forest ecosystems.

She grew up in the Białowieża Forest and has been working as a freelance guide here since 2004, focusing on wild flora, fungi and large predators. At present she is exploring the tree ring fire history of the Białowieża Forest for her PhD at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala (PhD acquired in 2017!)

Interested in prescribed fire and ethnography. Travels (and talks :)) a lot.
