Irek Smerczyński
Wildlife Guide
Irek has been a wildlife guide in the Bialowieza Forest since 2004. It was a natural continuation of his education and professional experience that have always been associated with this forest.
He is currently working in the Białowieża Geobotanical Station of Warsaw University being responsible for collecting data for the long-term phenological observations in the Strict Reserve of the Białowieża National Park, as well as other research projects.
In the past he had also worked in the Mammal Research Institute as a technical assistant in the field studies of European Bison, American Mink, Bats and Shrews. Therefore, his expertise is quite broad.
In his free time Irek goes back to the forest with his camera tracking birds and large mammals.
