This was a private Bison Safari ordered by Julia and her friends who already had a hotel and transport booked beforehand. Although July is a challenging time to watch large mammals with very high temperatures and wildlife mostly active at dawn (3 am) we did very well.
In three days we have seen several Bison, Wild Boar, Red Deer, Roe Deer, Pine Marten and Badgers. We have also seen fresh Wolf tracks and scat in several places, obvious signs of their activity in the area. I was also lucky to see a Wolf from a car on the way home but had my camera packed!
We have walked over 40 km through the best patches of the Białowieża Forest and saw plenty of magnificent, huge Oak, Lime, Ash, Maple as well as Hornbeam, Aspen, Spruce and many others. Many butterflies were also on the wing, including White Admiral, Purple Emperor and Lesser Purple Emperor. The long treks through the Primeval Forest, so dense, lush and full of dead wood were truly relaxing and really felt like proper forest bathing.
Last but not least, it was a great company and a good laugh! Here are a few photographs from that weekend:
