Carpathian Wildlife Festival, Sep 2019 (fantastic wolf, bear and bison sightings)
We are just finishing our Autumn Carpathian Wildlife Festival with a happy group from Britain, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Denmark.
It has been a spectacular week out in the wild with fantastic people. Years of experience we have gained in getting to know the area and tracking large mammals are now effective as we have seen wild, not habituated Wolves on two occasions and heard them howling close a few times. It has been an unforgettable experience.
We are also proud to say that it is not just Wolves, but wild, not habituated Brown Bears that are possible to see with us. We don’t use any hides where wild animals are habituated to visit by intensive feeding. Instead we offer real wildlife experience with a proper hike and tracking. Two different groups have seen Brown Bears with us this way this week.
And if you’d like to see European Bison in the natural, unscathed surroundings, we have seen them almost every day this week.
Of course it is not just about these sightings of rare predators and large mammals. We put emphasis on getting to experience and know these natural, complex ecosystems and have had a fantastic time out in true wilderness, silence, dark skies filled with bright stars, owls tooting, wolves howling and all that comes with it.
A full report from the festival will be ready next week but for now, here are a few more photos from mammal tracking this festival:
