Another tour has passed. We had an amazing time with a small group of fantastic people out in the wilderness of Eastern Poland. We have seen 12 mammal and over 150 bird species in just 8 days. The highlights included:
– European Bison a few times
– Wolf – single animal watched for a few minutes approaching straight at us
– Elk (Moose) – a very close and long encounter
– Beavers – several very close on our boat cruise
– Racoon Dogs – a family and one animal up close for a long time
– Red Fox, Pine Marten, Red and Roe Deer etc.
– Great Snipe, Aquatic Warblers, Greater Spotted Eagle,
– White-backed, Middle-spotted, Lesser-spotted, Grey-headed and Black Woodpeckers, Wryneck
– Pygmy Owls – a pair at nest, hunting, passing food
– Collared and Red-breasted Flycatchers
– Barred Warbler, River Warbler, Savi’s Warbler, Marsh Warbler, Icterine Warbler, Wood Warbler, Great Reed Warbler,
– Citrine Wagtail, Bluethroat, Rosefinch, Thrush Nightingale
– Hawfinch, Marsh Tit, Crested Tit, Nutcracker
…and a lot more!
