A truly stunning wildlife experience with a programme organised to perfection. We’ve been on many wildlife holidays and tours and this was probably the best curated we’ve ever had.

Join our magical boat trip to watch Beavers at dusk. See the best of the legendary Biebrza Marshes in two days.
Biebrza Marshes are one of Europe’s last natural lowland river valleys. They cover an area of over 1000 km2 of wetlands, peat bogs and bog forests in the north-east of Poland. Saved from drainage by the non-intensive farming, these fragile habitats became home for hundreds of rare species of birds, a huge population of Moose (European Elk), Beavers as well as a few packs of Wolves and several Lynx.
You will stay at a wooden, family run small hotel at the edge of the Biebrza National Park, that serves gorgeous traditional Polish food. It is also an excellent base for our daily excursions and there is so much to see! We will go for a Moose Safari, take a boat cruise down the river watching Beavers and look for some of Europe’s rarest birds like Aquatic Warblers or Greater Spotted Eagles, depending on the season.
You will also have the time to explore the town’s small cafes, visit the synagogue or the castle’s museum, pop into the nearby European Stork village with its 20+ White Stork nests or even walk into the ruins of WWI Russian military forts in the centre of the marsh!
Our local guides are experienced, have access to the best areas and see Elk (Moose) and Beavers regularly. Our customers say they are a wealth of knowledge and even fun but best to check it out yourselves. What is more, the eastern Polish traditional landscape with small, wooden houses and locally grown, gorgeous food as well as a short visit at the Warsaw old town will add a unique taste to this tour.

Day 1 (Sat): Pickup at Warsaw, transfer to Biebrza Marshes, Beaver safari boat trip
We meet at 08:00 in central Warsaw in front of the Palace of Culture and Science main entrance, eastern side, facing Marszałkowska Street (google map link here ›). Our guide and a minibus will be waiting for you there 15 minutes before. Transfer to the Biebrza Marshes takes ca. 2 hrs and our guide will introduce you to the area and talk about the plans on the way.
We will stop for a traditional Polish lunch at a small cafeteria right on the edge of the Biebrza National Park. From there, we will travel through the marshes and take a few stops before reaching our hotel with chances to spot Moose, Cranes, Owls or even Europe’s rarest warbler species. Our hotel is located on the edge of the National Park, with a great view far into the marsh, lovely garden and a couple of small ponds where amphibians live.
We shall get together for an early dinner and in the evening we will set off for a Beaver safari. When the time is right, just after sunset, we will board our stable flat-bottomed boat for a gentle cruise down the river. You will spend a good hour or more on the water having chances to spot several Beavers as they swim across the river, get out to the shores to mark the territory, groom their fur and feed on twigs. We have run this very popular trip for several years now and never missed a Beaver sight! It actually became a highlight of the whole visit to Poland for many of our previous participants.
Hotel: Dwór Dobarz or similar
Meals included: lunch en route, dinner
Day 2 (Sun): Visiting Biebrza National Park, transfer to Warsaw
This early morning is free for you to explore the National Park on your own. You may take a short walk in the woods or to one of the wooden hides overviewing the marshes for an unforgettable sunrise. We will stay at a very remote place. There are over 1000 Moose in this area and many of our previous visitors have had some good views – especially early morning. In fact, some have been lucky to spot Wolves and even Lynx on this trip!
After a hearty Polish breakfast we will invite you for a tour through the best sites that Biebrza Marshes and the National Park have to offer at a given season. We will take a drive around the best sites of the National Park to see Storks, Cranes, Eagles or other birds. We may pay a short visit at a raised bog with its variety of rare flora, get a chance to explore the ruins of WWI Russian military forts in the middle of the marsh as well as the number one Moose spotting viewing point of the Biebrza National Park.
After a late lunch at a small Polish cafe we will set off for a ca. 2 hours journey back to Warsaw. We plan to arrive at central Warsaw (Palace of Culture and Science where we picked you up) after 17:00.
The tour ends when we arrive in Warsaw. Participants book a hotel there and flights home at their own expense.
Meals included: breakfast , lunch

Eating & drinking
Polish food is very good, usually made from fresh produce. We are certainly meat eaters, not shunning from the fatty cuts. Pork and poultry are most popular. Soups are also a very Polish dish and while we do like our broth and borsch, many other soups are a full meal in itself.
Breakfasts tend to be hearty and often consist of fried or scrambled eggs, boiled or fried sausage, cold cuts, cheese, tomatoes and bread. A sweet version consisting of cheese/jam filled pancakes or racuchy (pancakes with apples) is also quite common.
For lunches we will take packed sets (two sandwiches, piece of fruit, chocolate bar, water) to eat in the field or stop at a local cafe where possible.
Dinners are a substantial 3-course meal served back at our guesthouse.
Vegetarians & vegans
These days vegetarians are usually well catered for, but please let us know at the time of booking. However, it can be difficult for vegans, as dairy produce and eggs occur in the vast majority of meals. Therefore we recommend that you bring some supplementary items.
